For those not familliar with incentivised mobile deals the term automatic cashback may seem a little peculiar or confusing. I mean, why would a cell phone company give automatic cash-back, and what exactly do they mean by automatic?

First off it is crucial to realise that when you get a phone contract, it is not with one company, you are in effect dealing with two (except if you go straight to the network provider). Automatic cashback deals are not to be confused with free line rental or cashback by redemption deals, in which consumers have to claim cash back later on in the contract. Due to unscrupilous terms and conditions attached to these claims for cashback many consumers never received their money, and therefore lost faith in the cashback by redemption offers.

So, the automatic cashback promotion was born. These offers promised more realistic savings than the cashback by redemption deals, but, the payment was guaranteed. It was automatic, given to the consumer as soon as the contract was signed, and so, the term automatic cashback was conceieved for this kind of mobile offer .

For customers wanting an automatic cash-back phone offer, without doubt, the best place to locate one is online. Whilst it is probably possible to find one of these offers on the high street it is far less likely. For one thing, the high street cellular telephone retailers do not generally offer such good offers or incentives simply because their costs are a lot more than those of their online competition (though their customer service is normally superior). Besides, it is not easy for stores to make money with these deals. The profit margins with automatic cash-back offers are so tight that they require constant attention, factoring in changes to the levels of commission paid and the price of of the phones themselves. This means the life of a specific offer is quite short, once that ends you (as a consumer) have to wait for the next automatic cashback deal to come along.

For this reason mobile comparison sites are usually the best way to find an automatic cashback offer , as they will show all offers by all online retailers on one page. These offers are obscure, representing a tiny amount of the total number of offers on offer, and, you will have to accept an older less well featured handset in order to obtain one. But for the thrifty, automatic cash-back offers are by far the cheapest way to run a cellular telephone.
